THE COACH JOURNEY:
There are a choice of three different bus (coach) journeys from Malaga to Orgiva where by arrangement you can be met off the bus. Which one you choose will depend on your flight timing.
Remember you may choose one route for the outward journey and a different route for the return journey if you wish.
The choices are:
OPTION A One direct bus a day (except Sundays). Leaves Malaga bus station at 3.00pm. If your flight arrives in the morning up to about 1pm this is the best option to choose. (Not Sundays) There is also one direct bus a day (not Sundays) from Orgiva at 8.15am to return you to Malaga. Timetables in the BLUE box below. |
OPTION B There are buses every day of the week from Malaga bus station to Granada bus station where you can then catch a bus to Orgiva. There are several every day. Timetables in the GREEN box below. |
OPTION C This is a simplified version of Option B above. It's particularly suitable for guests arriving on early evening flights up to about 8pm ish. Catch the 21.30 coach from Malaga bus station to Granada bus station and be collected in Granada off the coach (Taxi fare £25) Timetable in the LILAC box below. |
All the bus services mentioned depart from Malaga bus station. The number "A" airport shuttle bus from the airport will easily take you there. Here is how to catch it.
The cathedral scale new Terminal 3 building is now open at Malaga Airport and whichever gate your flight lands at you will now exit through it.
As you come out of the terminal onto the paved area into the outside air just walk straight ahead of you underneath the overhead building (see photo on left below). There directly in front of you at the pavement edge is the bus stop.

You want the number "A" bus, ask for Estacion de Autobuses. (say - Estathion de Owtoebuses). The "A" runs about every 35mins. Don't be tempted to get on the FREE bus that uses the stop, it's the wrong one!
Below is a photo of the bus times displayed on the bus stop (July 2010). The fare is 2 euros. Some drivers will not accept notes larger than 5 euros, so if you need change you might like to break into a larger note at the airport.
Once at the bus station you will need to buy a ticket for a coach to either Orgiva or Granada depending on which of the three onward routes (detailed below) that you choose. Buy your ticket from the "ALSA" (name of bus company) window.
If you are getting the direct bus to Orgiva, look for the bus service destination Lanjaron (Orgiva is the town before Lanjaron)
Timetables for all journeys (correct Jan 2010) are reproduced below. To check if they are still current use this link .
There is plenty to look at en route either way, the direct service service goes along the coast (views of the Mediterranean and mountains), the indirect service goes inland (views of wide open spaces and mountains).
Once you get to Orgiva you can by pre arrangement be collected at the bus stop.
