The following is a typical day here, (of which there are infinite variations):
Wake up to a clear sky, the glow of the sun behind the mountain. Enjoy some breakfast outside in the courtyard, maybe muesli, fruit and coffee. Exchange "good mornings" to others wandering around. A dive in the pool, swim a few lengths then out for a warm shower.
Soon it's time to gather together, the sun is just peeping over the mountain as we sit in a circle, in the shade of the roundhouse overlooking the pool. Peace, beauty and warmth surround us, the hum of cicadas provides a background as we meet. Perhaps starting with a short meditation, then a check in for anything anyone wishes to share before moving to practical matters, who's cooking? What time are we leaving to shop? Who will come for a walk by the river?
Then free time, maybe lay by the pool, read a book or as an alternative find a shady spot for quiet reflection. Others go into town to buy ingredients for tonight's planned paella, probably lingering for an alfresco coffee before returning.
Morning turns to lunchtime and someone has made a salad, eagerly enjoyed with fresh bread, goats cheese and olives.
Some quiet relaxing in the cool of the house writing holiday postcards, a little siesta perhaps and then later when the sun has passed it's zenith, pirate games in the pool with air beds and floats. Followed by conversation, laughter and maybe an ice lolly!
A gentle stroll up the track to the headland, past prickly pears, figs, olives and a donkey, spectacular views of the river valley and mountains. Warm scented air, birds wheeling in a vast arena of sky, the heart expands, it's beautiful, no doubts.
Then later after soaking in a hot bath, dinner outside on the roof terrace, good food, good company, conversation, word games laughter. The dark blue of the sky has turned to black and overhead a myriad stars are scattered. It's been a great day, good to be alive, let's do it all again tomorrow. How about going to the beach?
